Well, I made it – mostly 🙂
This is the first time I attempted the 40 day fast together with the Love Singapore initiative to fast and pray 40 days before our National Day. Before that, I could never do it since I was either pregnant or nursing 🙂 And since I was battling a huge rash outbreak all over my limbs, I thought that physically, it would benefit my body to fast from meat. So all in all a great opportunity to fast physically and spiritually.
Fasting from eating meat products was relatively easy. Fasting from coffee was also relatively easy (except for the last few days). But to spend the time used for eating to pray – ah! that was really difficult for me. To even wake up to pray was a huge challenge.
And yet, I was more aware than ever of the spiritual dimension. It is interesting how it panned out for me. God certainly will not be hemmed in by our expectations and our limited knowledge.
If you ever get a chance to fast for a longer period than 2 – 3 days, try it. You never know what God will reveal to you.
Now to enjoy my first cuppa after 40 days! 😀
