This week, we studied Matthew 24 & 25 as part of our Student of the Word curriculum. Lots and lots of stuff in there!
The topic for the week was “Watch” and the main lesson I took away was the need to watch and pray.
First, to watch and pray for the Lord’s return which no one knows when except the Father (Matthew 24:36) and secondly, to watch and pray against temptations which are all around us (Matthew 26:41).
Are you watching and praying? Am I watching and praying? Or are we both too concerned about the things of this world to watch and pray? In other words, have we let our busyness push out the 2 important things we are called to do by Jesus?
I must confess that I have. 🙁 It is so easy to be busy and forget to watch and pray or to push it aside as we cross out our mile long To-Do list. And the Lord’s second coming seems so far away. Afterall the disciples have been waiting for Jesus’ return since He went up to heaven more than 2000 years ago.
But unless we focus on Kingdom matters, we’ll end up focusing on things that are unimportant. And that affects how we live our lives, disciple our children and serve others.
Let us encourage each other to watch and pray!
I don’t see how you can NOT be busy when you are so blessed!
Actually now that the bb is not so dependent on me to sleep, I feel much less stressed. At least more things can be done.
when you are doing the “more things”, you ARE being busy. 😉 Good for you anyway on the new development.
