Teaching a child to sleep on their own has been a lifesaver for me! I feel even more strongly about it now, after we were blessed with our 7th child. You see, our 7th blessing does not go to bed on her own. She needs to nurse to sleep and sometimes requires to be attached to me the whole night to sleep đ It is very, very tiring on my body and no one sleeps well. Read more…

Stomach flu but we got through it!
Since becoming a mother more than 13 years ago, I have had very few brushes with the dreaded stomach flu. Usually we would just get the runs and it would last at most 2 days. I recall only one or two incidents where just one child threw up. Stomach flu does its round Well on Sunday […] Read more…
Cultivating A Habit of Staying Home
I like staying home. My children for the most part like staying home. Do you? Of course we do go out but we probably go out much less often than the average family. Neither my children nor I clamour to get out of the house. The boys do itch to be released to run around […] Read more…
Frustrated
Since my last Allergy Update on June 18th, things were really improving really well. So much so that I thought that by August 25th, which will mark 1 year of Sarah’s very strict diet, we could have a celebration of sorts! Sadly though, that did not come to pass. Babies Slow You Down

We celebrated by bringing the children to the zoo since the next day was Anna’s birthday and we most certainly did not want to go to the zoo on a Saturday đ […] Read more…
Powered by the Holy Spirit
As a SAHM it is sometimes pure drudgery to go through each day. The housework never gets done, cooking is a never-ending chore and training and teaching children that don’t seem to get it makes one wants to vomit blood. So how? đ This is where I do 2 things – I will myself to keep […] Read more…
Of Chinese mothers, $20K preschool fees and overnight queues
Recent provocative articles about parents striving to help their children get a head start in life have been published by the newspapers. There was Amy Chua’s Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior which appeared on WSJ.com, and before that an article about parents queueing up to get onto the waitlist of a reputedly top-notch preschool. And even further back there […] Read more…
What it all boils down to
There are many reasons people give for either not having a child or for stopping at one child. But it is really my humble opinion that it all boils down to our attitude towards children in general. We do NOT view them as blessings. We see them as a burden, as a liability. Sure, we […] Read more…
