Once you have more than one child, you cannot help but observe how different they both are. So, when you have 7, the differences can be super glaring. Sure, there would be some similarities. But each child is so unique that I constantly marvel at God’s handiwork in their lives. How can children from the same 2 parents be so different?

Living with different personalities in the house makes us more tolerant.Who are they like?

Some are like me, others like my husband. And some have combinations that boggles our minds! Their different personalities have really forced us to go on our knees before God to ask for godly wisdom.

There is truly no one size fits all. The principles are the same but the execution can be totally different. And to handle that without appearing unfair to the other children is a huge challenge indeed!

Different personalities = Clashes

Obviously, having different personalities must also lead to clashes in the family.

Here are 9 persons with different personalities living under one roof. Space is limited, noise pollution is high.

There isn’t much space for privacy. We learn to make do. We learn to respect each other’s need for privacy – in both the physical and emotional aspects.

Learning tolerance

But with all that also comes the beauty of living in a large family. We all learn to live with each other’s quirks. And learn to live with and tolerate each other’s eccentricities. As they do that, they are acquiring skills that will help them as they negotiate the world at large. And they will definitely not have a boring childhood when one grows up in a household of 9!
