Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:1-5, NKJV
And so after I posted about our success with Teviron clothing, both dd and I had a relapse of sorts. 🙁 I, especially am itching terribly with even my face covered in an ugly rash now. Sigh.
If only the Teviron cloth is indeed a magic cloth eh?
I want to be upfront about its effects in case anyone thinks it is a magic cure all 🙂 It really soothes my skin when it is raw and itchy. Even dd asked for the cloth to wrap around her neck when she had lots of broken skin due to her scratching. But it has by no means totally eliminated eczema. I guess until the internal system has been healed, I doubt any external “cure” can be long lasting. Also perhaps we have not used it long enough or not have enough coverage. I don’t know. I am merely sharing and documenting our experience with it. And if it can help anyone else, it would be great.
For my daughter, hers started after a roller blading lesson on a very cool and windy day. She had been recovering so well so I allowed her to re-start her lessons especially since that day was so cool and windy. But boy! did we all pay for it. She was ok when she came back but that very night, she broke out all over the usual spots PLUS where the helmet, knee and wrist guards touched.
She was totally miserable and in great, great discomfort. That was 2 weeks ago. Thankfully it started to subside within 5 days. It was however a horrible 5 days. And she is still battling it.
For myself, I found that all the old spots that had been healed came back and with a vengeance too! It isn’t as bad as it was before but now I have it on my face!!! No, you won’t be seeing any photo of my face for now! When I have a lovely “after” photo, then maybe 😛
What happened?!
For my daughter, it was clear that until she is fully healed, she cannot be in any situation that causes her to sweat profusely. And she must avoid dust. Yesterday she put on a t-shirt that had not been worn for months and she broke out. It only calmed down when she took a shower to wash it all off.
My case? I highly suspect that my trigger this time round is again, the lovely Lift Upgrading Project. They have re-started drilling – probably starting on the next blocks adjacent to ours (they started with the blocks in front and behind us). I can literally feel the dust flying on my face when I open our front door. Cement dust as I have mentioned before it very toxic to us. There is also some water pipe and re-wiring works going on till………July!!!
But it could also be the fact that :
- I have cheated on the diet with coffee with milk and teh :P,
- I am battling die-offs as I have increased our fermented foods,
- it is the regression seen commonly on the GAPS diet at 3, 6, 12, 18 months. Apparently bacteria have a life cycle that comes in 3month intervals. I did have a bad bout at around the 3 month mark but it wasn’t so severe.
- it is ALL of the above, each one compounding the effect of the other till I am almost crazy with itchiness 🙁 I did what I share in A Breakthrough and yet I see NO improvement. In fact, the rash on my face seems to be spreading! Eeks!
So how?
Pray and push through!
We can’t escape the dust. Even if I close all the windows and turn on the aircon 24/7. I do spend a lot of time in the kitchen which obviously is not airconditioned. Already the aircon is turned on a lot more nowadays.
I am not sure if layering on more teviron clothing will be able counteract the effects of cement dust. But I am trying it. You know how one is when one is desperate!
I also know that I don’t function well when the allergies are out full force – can’t think properly, become less tolerant and more irritable (worse than PMS!). Since teviron is the only thing that has helped so far, it would make sense to increase coverage and see if it helps relieve the itching. I would like both dd and myself to be as comfortable as we can be as we prepare for her PSLE year.
And so we press on and pray it through.
I know it is God who heals and He heals in His time. Meanwhile, I just do what I can to make us more comfortable in order to ride it out. He is our God who heals all our diseases (Ps 103:3).
Praying for you…
I am impressed at your perseverance through this specific challenge. Now I do realized that you will try anything you can to fix all this, but to share, and to try new things, and to keep on keeping on has to be an encouragement to others that struggle with this too.
Blessings, Sheri
Thanks Sheri!
Cant help wondering if the Teviron can be worn under the helmet and the skating gear…
Santhi – no. It would make the sweating worse. I know it is a quick drying cloth but somehow when worn on a sweaty part of the body it aggravates the itch more!
