As I look back at 2014, a year full of changes and developments, I cannot not sing of His awesome faithfulness. So many things have happened, so many things will be happening and it can all be very overwhelming. But I want to remember WHO I serve. This is just a brief recap of what has happened in 2014 and a brief reveal of what will happen in 2015.
On the ministry front, many things have been happening and yet on the surface it appears that nothing is happening đ In January, Henson officially stepped down as deputy senior pastor of Covenant Vision Christian Church. And that started a string of events which you can read about here, 2014 : A Year of Baby Steps, as he summarises them. A key highlight would be officially launching our new ministry, Archippus Awakening in August. Following that birth, one of the first things the ministry did was to organise an Awakening Event with an endtime perspective, The Beginning of the End with Mesianic Jewish speaker, Amir Tsarfati. (If you missed the conference and would like to listen to the teachings, we have limited copies of CDs available for sale. Click here for more details.) More things are happening on the ministry front starting come 2015 and if you would like to be kept in the loop, please subscribe to our Archippus Awakening website by signing up to be informed via email on the Home page here and like our Facebook page, here.
On the homeschool front, we sent forth yet another child through the PSLE grind and am truly grateful that The Lord has seen fit to allow us to clear the benchmark for 2014. Three down, four more to go! We are so proud of Aaron for doing his part by being very diligent in doing his work throughout the year that we rewarded him with waffles and ice cream at the end of it đ He now joins big brother and sister in being a student of Abeka’s DVD homeschool curriculum.
In 2015, we will have a K2 (who will need to apply for exemption from the Compulsory Education Law), a P2, a P4 (who will have to sit for the homeschoolers’ exam as required by MOE’s new rule), a P6 (yes, another one who needs to go through PSLE!), a Grade 8, a Grade 10 and a Grade 12 (who will need to sit for SAT exams). Homeschooling, therefore, remains my main assignment for this season and everything else has to fit around it.
On the health front, we are still battling the allergy monster. By the grace of God, we will have His strength to keep battling till it is dead and gone forever! And if not, to have His grace to endure and keep praising Him. So this is my other area of focus – constantly researching and praying over our health for wisdom to know what to feed seven children who have a great capacity for eating! You can read Cooking for a large family for an inkling of what it is like to feed our family!
Some days it feels like we are juggling too many balls in the air and it feels like we are very close to dropping some balls! (Actually I think we have dropped some and probably will continue to do so!) But this is what the Lord has called us to do and we want to be found obedient doing what He has asked us to do and not what we would like to do. And we keep reminding ourselves that we will need to do it His way and on His strength. Indeed, since we are going where we have not gone before (Joshua 3:4) we had better spend more time on our knees and fixing our eyes on Him.
I take heart that every time I feel weak, I can look back to what He has done for us and how He has always, always been faithful. It reassures me greatly to remember and know that I serve an awesome God who can be trusted ALL THE TIME.
So as we draw 2014 to a close and step into 2015, may you also remember that the God we serve is faithful and will never forsake us.
For He Himself has said, âI will never leave you nor forsake you.â
So we may boldly say:
âThe Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?â Hebrews 13:5b – 6.
Let us start 2015 right by seeking Him first even as we leave 2014 behind, a year filled with many tragedies. 2015 may be a year fraught with much uncertainty so we need to build our houses on The Rock, so that when tough times come, our houses will not fall! (See Matthew 7:24-27).
Amen đ
