If you are a mom of of young children, you would know that to be able to just sit down all by yourself and not get up every 10 minutes or so or have someone drape themselves all over you is a luxury, right? đ And so this past Saturday morning I got to do just that! I alternated between just sitting and watching the graduation ceremony of Children’s Vineyard Montessori and blogging. No one climbing on me or asking me to take them to the restroom. It was nice!
Meanwhile I see the other parents running around : some filming their children’s performance, others carrying and trying to distract their younger children while their older children perform and one trying to nurse her baby to sleep.
And I smile. Not so long ago I was that parent. My 2 older children attended its predecessor, Vineyard Montessori, back in 2001 with the older one graduating in 2004. We pulled the second one that year too, to homeschool them. I had done all the above and more and I remember how trying and tiring it was.
I was there that Saturday morning because my 2 older children had been roped in to help out. I played chauffeur and got some time to myself.
But I digress.
If you’re the parent in this season of getting up every 10 minutes to tend to your small children, and/or nursing babies or toddlers, take heart. Soon you’ll get to just sit and enjoy. I know it seems faaar away but the day will come and you might just miss it even! đ
